Jackson, in Clarke County, is the county's largest city, and serves as
a trade center for the surrounding areas.
Nestled in the heart of the South and between the Tombigbee and Alabama rivers, Clarke County boasts
some of the best hunting and fishing in the United States.
The area provides a variety of recreational venues, facilities and
attractions. Jackson's Pearce Memorial Park is semi-private, and
provides a mixture of recreational activities for children plus a
438x108 pool that is 46 yards longer than a football field.
The park is also home to the Jackson Links Golf Course, a nine-hole
facility with water in play. Lock One Island and Park, is between
Jackson and Coffeeville. The park has a boat landing, pavilion, bank
fishing, primitive camping sites and a 620-acre island accessible by
boat that is home to a variety of wildlife.
Among the many things to do and see in the area are the Garden Fair at
the Clark County Fairgrounds, the National Road Festival, Annual CAMA
Bike Rally, the Casey Bluegrass Festival, Family Fun Weekend, Fourth
of July Celebration, |

Clarke
County 4-H Fair and others. Another
annual attraction is the Pioneer Days Festival. It is a living
history exhibit that shows how syrup was once made from sorghum or
ribbon cane; how pioneer women washed clothes and many other
early pioneer techniques. It is held on the second Saturday in
November.
You can tell that we've got a lot to offer in Jackson, as well as
Clarke County. If you're ready to keep back a little and enjoy life
at a slower pace, stop by our United Country office and let us show
some of our many advantages.
